Welcome to MOVAT

Welcome to MOVAT and a revolution in vascular access training.  The use of ultrasound has come to the forefront of society.  Images of ultrasound machines are commonplace on medically-related television programs and commercials.  The general public has embraced the use of a non-invasive means of gathering diagnostic and procedural information.  Ultrasound is no longer confined to the realm of obstetrics and gynecology, and is becoming a force in Emergency Departments, ICUs and even Operating Rooms.  No long is it reasonable to perform venous or arterial cannulation, with the intent of central access, without the use of ultrasound.

Further, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality believes that proper Central Venous Catheter insertion includes the use of wide sterile barriers in addition to the use of ultrasound.  We believe that the advancements in ultrasound technology have created highly accurate and portable machines that can serve to decrease:

  • Liability
  • Patient Discomfort
  • Placement Failure
  • Procedural Duration
  • Complications (vessel damage, pneumothorax, local hematoma, retroperitoneal bleeding, AV fistula, infection, operator needle stick)
